Your user identity is created dynamically when you onboard and is associated with a temporary session token. Once you close your browser tab or disconnect, your active username is released instantly.

2. Message & Data Storage

We store messages to enable the core chat functionality:

Public Messages: Stored in our database temporarily. They are public to all online users.
Private Messages: Stored securely in our database. They are only readable by the sender and the recipient via database Row-Level Security (RLS).
Message Retention: Public and private messages are periodically purged to ensure maximum privacy and optimize database performance.

3. Cookies & Local Storage

We use a minimal set of cookies and local storage tokens to maintain your active chat session, configuration, and perform basic, privacy-safe analytics:

Session & Authentication Cookies: Persistence tokens to keep your anonymous chat connected.
Security & Anti-Spam Cookies: Flags (such as the banned HttpOnly cookie) strictly used to enforce rate-limits and spam lockout rules.
Performance & Analytics Cookies: Highly restricted third-party Google Analytics cookies to monitor general traffic volume. These are configured with a strict 24-hour expiration cap and cannot track you across multiple days, weeks, or external websites.

4. Security Measures & Bans

To maintain a clean and safe environment, we implement automated spam-filtering, link-blocking, and IP rate-limiting. Banned IP addresses are stored securely and encrypted where applicable, strictly for the purpose of denying service access to bad actors.
